Baseball Recap: Desert Mirage Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Desert Mirage, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They never let the Public Safety Academy Phoenix get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory on Tuesday.

Public Safety Academy's batters probably weren't too happy with Alejandro Carmona, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 13 Ks (he gave up three walks). Carmona also allowed no hits, which is notable because Desert Mirage is 5-2 when he allows at most one hit, but 2-8 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brian Benavides, who scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Edilverto Biarco, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Desert Mirage's win bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Public Safety Academy, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Desert Mirage will host Borrego Springs at 3:30 p.m. on the 23rd. As for Public Safety Academy, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Redlands Adventist Academy at 3:30 p.m. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed seven runs per game on average), something the Phoenix will no doubt try to take advantage of.
