Softball Recap: Lanesville Wins Going Away Against New Washington

While Lanesville put up some runs on Monday, the same can't be said for New Washington. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Mustangs. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won nine in a row.

Makenna Mills made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 14 over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one triple. She is on a roll when it comes to triples, as she's now hit at least one in each of the last four games she's played.

In other batting news, Lanesville let Madelyn Magner and Brooklyn Albers run wild. Magner went 2-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI, while Albers went 2-for-4 with two triples and two RBI. Those two triples gave Albers a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Izzy Rawlings, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Lanesville's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-11. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for New Washington, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.

Coming up, Lanesville will challenge Tell City at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for New Washington, they will head out on the road to square off against Borden at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
