Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Northridge Academy). They blew past the Vaughn White Tigers 77-51 on Monday. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Pumas just coasted through the last quarter.
Leading Northridge Academy to victory were Christian Perea and Isaac Alvarez. Perea made all 7 shots he took racking up 17 points and six rebounds, while Alvarez went 5-for-10 en route to 14 points and six steals. Alvarez has become a key player for Northridge Academy: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three steals, but 8-16 otherwise. Devarion Kelly was another key player, putting up nine points and six boards.
Joaquin Meza and Siddiq Mumin certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Meza posted 14 points, while Mumin had ten points along with five rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Jonathan Cancino, who earned six points and seven boards.
The win (which was Northridge Academy's third in a row) raised their record to 10-17. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.3 points over those games. As for Vaughn, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 15 games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 5-17 record this season.
