Central proved they can win big on Monday (they won by three) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Southwest EC Eagles 3-2. This was a revenge game for the Spartans: when they faced off against the Eagles two weeks ago, they had to take a 2-0 defeat.

Central wouldn't go down easily and took Southwest EC into a fifth set where they got it done with a four-point win. The final score came out to 22-25, 25-14, 21-25, 25-21, 15-11.

Sara Morales paced Central's offense, picking up 22 kills. Morales got some help from Rhyanna Velazco and her 31 assists. Velazco was also solid from the service line: she led the team with seven aces.

Central pushed their record up to 19-12 with the win, which was their third straight at home. As for Southwest EC, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-15.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Central will venture away from home to take on Holtville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Southwest EC, after both having extra time off, they and Imperial will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
