Preview: Chincoteague Ponies vs. Wicomico Indians

Chincoteague is 0-4 against Wicomico since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Chincoteague Ponies will be staying on the road to face off against the Wicomico Indians at 6:00 p.m. on December 18th. Chincoteague has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Chincoteague scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They claimed a resounding 84-44 victory over Holly Grove Christian on the road. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Chincoteague has managed all season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Chincoteague to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jordan Harper, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and ten rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Harper has scored at least 25% of Chincoteague's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Harper, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten assists.

Meanwhile, Wicomico had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They came out on top against Parkside by a score of 55-48.

Chincoteague pushed their record up to 3-2 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 24.67 points. As for Wicomico, their win bumped their record up to 3-0.

Chincoteague was taken down by Wicomico 85-39 in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Chincoteague was down 47-24.
