Zillah picks up fifth straight win at home

Recap: Zillah Leopards vs. Toppenish Wildcats

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Wapato, the Zillah Leopards were happy to have found some success on Friday. They came out on top against Toppenish by a score of 67-58. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tatiana Camacho, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. Another player making a difference was Samiah Baker, who scored 11 points along with two steals.

Zillah pushed their record up to 10-4 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.6 points per game. As for Toppenish, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Zillah will take on Naches Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Washington (Naches Valley is ranked 69th, while Zillah is ranked 58th). As for Toppenish, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Wapato at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Wapato's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matchups.
