Baseball Game Preview: Centreville Academy Tigers vs. Central Hinds Academy Cougars

The Centreville Academy Tigers will face off against the Central Hinds Academy Cougars at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.

Centreville Academy made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Wilkinson County Christian Academy, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Tigers fell just short of the Rams by a score of 10-8 last Monday. The loss continues a trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Rams: they've now lost five in a row.

Centreville Academy saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kayde Redmond, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two triples and two runs. Redmond is becoming a predictor of the Tigers' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 1-8 when he doesn't). John Austin Sterling was another, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Central Hinds Academy put their dominant pitchers on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Clinton Christian Academy a 15-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won three in a row.

Centreville Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Central Hinds Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 7-11.

Centreville Academy might still be hurting after the 12-5 loss they got from Central Hinds Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
