Volleyball Recap: Weslaco Panthers vs. Lopez Lobos

Weslaco was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lopez Lobos. If the Panthers were looking for revenge after losing 2-0 to the Lobos when the teams met back in August of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Isabella Stroman paced Weslaco's offense, picking up six kills. Stroman got some help from Madison Martinez and her 12 assists. Caitlyn Escamilla controlled things from the service line, finishing with six aces.

Lopez's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chalene Granado, who had 20 assists and six digs. That's the most assists Granado has posted over her last four matches. The team also got some help courtesy of Nataly Palomino, who had 13 digs.

Weslaco's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Lopez, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-1.

Weslaco wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 2-0 win against La Feria on the 21st. As for Lopez, they have also already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against Laredo LBJ on the 21st.
