Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Kailah Carter and Sydney Richardson Lead Matoaca to Victory

Matoaca's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They came out on top against the Prince George Royals by a score of 59-46. This was a revenge game for the Warriors: when they faced off against the Royals back in January, they had to take a 57-56 loss.

Leading Matoaca to victory were Sydney Richardson and Kailah Carter. Richardson went 6-for-14 to rack up 20 points and seven steals, while Carter went 7-for-14 on her way to 21 points and three steals. Carter's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendra Carter, who posted eight points.

Matoaca's record now sits at 11-9. As for Prince George, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 10-11 record this season.

Coming up, Matoaca will look to defend their home court on Monday against Thomas Dale at 7:15 p.m. Matoaca is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.6 points per game this season. As for Prince George, they are taking a road trip to take on Hopewell at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Hopewell knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Prince George likes a good challenge.
