It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Fernley had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 12-5 margin over the South Tahoe Vikings. The Vaqueros might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 matchups by six runs or more this season.
Janessa Robinson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Robinson was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Taylor Tollestrup, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs. She has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last 16 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ximena Rodriguez, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Fernley hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Tahoe struck out six times.
