Basketball Recap: Swain County Takes a Loss

Swain County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Franklin Panthers and fell 86-28. The Maroon Devils were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 56-16.

Franklin got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jack Jack Teesateskie out in front who went 6 of 11 on his way to 16 points and five steals. What's more, Teesateskie also racked up four assists, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. Noah Brannon was another key player, going 5 for 10 en route to 10 points in addition to six boards and five steals.

Swain County's loss dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Franklin, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-4.

Swain County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 55-52 defeat against Robbinsville on the 7th. As for Franklin, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 73-43 victory against West Henderson on the 7th.
