Basketball Recap: Northridge's Win on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Northridge extended their winning streak to three games thanks to a huge performance from Ava Travis. The Northridge Vikings sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 53-50 victory over the Watkins Memorial Warriors on Wednesday thanks in part to Travis, who went 10 for 18 on her way to 25 points. She has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 14 times she's played.

Another player making a difference was Grace Wood, who posted five points along with six rebounds and three steals. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in boards.

Despite the loss, Watkins Memorial still got an impressive performance from Ella Perry, who went 5 of 10 en route to 13 points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Shelby Lott, who had 16 points and three steals.

Northridge's record is now 9-7. As for Watkins Memorial, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.

Northridge will be playing in front of their home fans against Utica at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday. As for Watkins Memorial, they will head out to take on Zanesville at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday. Watkins Memorial is facing Zanesville at the right time seeing as Zanesville is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
