James Island triumphant thanks to a strong effort from Andrea Duncan

Recap: James Island Trojans vs. Hilton Head Island Seahawks

A well-balanced attack led the James Island Trojans over the Hilton Head Island Seahawks in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. James Island took down Hilton Head Island 51-33. Given James Island's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while Hilton Head Island is ranked 111th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Andrea Duncan continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, almost dropping a double-double on 18 points and nine steals. She hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Alaina Graf, who scored 12 points.

Hilton Head Island lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Leah Jackson, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds. Jackson is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Amaya Wroten, who scored six points.

James Island's win bumped their record up to 18-7. As for Hilton Head Island, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-16.

James Island will stay at home for another game and welcome Westwood at 6:00 p.m. on February 13th. Westwood is coming into the match with three straight victories on the road, so James Island is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum. As for Hilton Head Island, they will take on Hartsville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hartsville is coming into the contest with six straight defeats at home, meaning Hilton Head Island will have to defend against a team hungry for a win.
