Baseball Game Preview: Perkins Pirates vs. Edison Chargers

The Perkins Pirates are taking a road trip to square off against the Edison Chargers at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. Perkins is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.

Perkins gave up the first runs on Saturday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Swanton, sneaking past 5-4.

Perkins' win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Bryce Davie, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Davie has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played.

Meanwhile, Edison had already won ten in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it 11 on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Roughriders as they made off with a 12-1 victory. The Chargers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by six runs or more this season.

Edison pushed their record up to 19-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Perkins, their record now sits at 15-7.

Perkins couldn't quite finish off Edison in their previous meeting back in April and fell 4-2. Can the Pirates avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
