Hopkinsville came out on top against Choctawhatchee on Tuesday thanks in part to Andrew Mayes's efforts. Mayes was unstoppable, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.
