Baseball Game Preview: Steel Valley Ironmen vs. East Allegheny Wild Cats

Steel Valley is 8-2 against East Allegheny since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Ironmen will be playing at home against the Wild Cats at 3:30 p.m. Steel Valley will be strutting in after a victory while East Allegheny will be coming in after a loss.

Steel Valley headed into their last contest having not scored more than two runs for four straight, but Sto-Rox let them put that streak behind them. The Ironmen never let the Vikings get on the board and left with a 15-0 win on Friday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Ironmen as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

The team relied heavily on Jorden Smith, who scored four runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. Steel Valley is 2-1 when Smith posts two or more stolen bases, but 2-3-1 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Phares, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Steel Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .474. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, East Allegheny was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against South Park, falling 9-0.

The win got Steel Valley back to even at 4-4-1. As for East Allegheny, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.
