Softball Recap: Sunray Find Success

After losing to Sanford-Fritch the last time they met, Sunray decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Bobcats had just enough and edged out the Eagles 13-12. That's two games straight that the Bobcats have won by just one run.

Wynn Boatmun was a standout: she got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Addison Gonzalez, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

Sunray was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .550. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.

The victory made it two in a row for Sunray and bumps their season record up to 5-3. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Sanford-Fritch, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Sunray will challenge rival Follett at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Sanford-Fritch is set to face off against their familiar foe Highland Park at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
