Softball Recap: Signal Mountain Takes a Loss

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Signal Mountain's offense. They came up short against the Walker Valley Mustangs on Wednesday, falling 17-0. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Eagles' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Signal Mountain saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sarah Corn, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Signal Mountain has also been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season. As for Walker Valley, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 23-7.

Coming up, Signal Mountain will venture away from home to challenge Marion County at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season. As for Walker Valley, they will welcome East Hamilton at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Hurricanes will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
