Baseball Recap: Summit Sets Scoring Season-High Against Mount Juliet

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Summit). They put the hurt on the Mount Juliet Golden Bears with a sharp 13-5 win on Friday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Spartans considering their one-run performance the match before.

Drew Youngblood looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

On the hitting side, Zach Southerland was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Aiden Britton was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

Summit kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Summit's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 12-8. As for Mount Juliet, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-13-1.

Looking ahead, Summit will be playing in front of their home fans against Franklin at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Mount Juliet, they will take on Siegel at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
