Baseball Recap: Calais Takes a Loss

Calais lost against Woodland on May 2nd, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Blue Devils fell 5-2 to the Dragons.

Noah White put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

White wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Parker Cole, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI. Another was Kaeson Dana, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base.

Calais has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season. As for Woodland, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.

Calais will face off against Shead at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Blue Devils are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Woodland, they will take on Penobscot Valley at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
