Football Recap: Clinton Comes Up Short in High-Profile Game with Madison Central

Clinton faced Madison Central in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Arrows fell 28-16 to the Jaguars. The Arrows' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

Jayden Jones threw for 235 yards on 16 of 31 attempts. Jaden Johnson was his top target, picking up 82 receiving yards. On the ground, Braylon Lowery rushed for 64 yards.

Madison Central's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tripp Smith, who threw for 204 yards and three TDs. Smith is becoming a predictor of the Jaguars' success: when he posts at least three passing touchdowns the team is undefeated (and 3-4 when he doesn't). Tylan Hutchins was another key pass catcher, picking up 146 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Clinton's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Madison Central, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-4.

Clinton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Madison Central, they have already played their next contest, a 35-28 defeat against Horn Lake on the 14th.
