Baseball Game Preview: Medina Mustangs vs. Akron Tigers

For the second straight game, Medina will face off against Akron. The Mustangs will host the Tigers at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Medina is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Monday as neither Medina nor Akron made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Mustangs never let the Tigers get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won four contests by six runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Aidan Papaj, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Hadrian Batista, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

Medina pushed their record up to 8-0 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Akron, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-3.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Medina has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Akron struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
