Baseball Recap: Alonso Finds Home Field Redemption Against Leto

Alonso's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Sickles on Thursday. Alonso never let the Leto Falcons get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Nobody will forget Bryan Alonso's heroic performance anytime soon (especially Leto's batters): he turned in a perfect game. The dominant performance also gave Alonso a new career-high in strikeouts (11).

On the hitting side, Alvin Santiago was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Raymond Llanes, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Alonso is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. Leto's loss dropped their record down to 8-10.

Coming up, Alonso will head out on the road to challenge Plant City at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Plant City's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Alonso's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Leto, they will be playing at home against Wharton at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Leto's pitchers better be ready for this one: Wharton has averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season.
