Soccer Game Preview: Volcano Vista vs. Cibola

The Volcano Vista Hawks will challenge the Cibola Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Volcano Vista will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Volcano Vista is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Mexico's top teams: Farmington, who was ranked tenth at the time (Volcano Vista was ranked second). The Hawks sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Scorpions on Saturday. That's two games straight that Volcano Vista have won by just one goal.

Meanwhile, Cibola's game on Monday was all tied up 0-0 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They came out on top against Valley by a score of 3-1. Cibola haven't had any issues with Valley recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Cibola's victory bumped their record up to 6-11. As for Volcano Vista, their win bumped their record up to 13-4.

Volcano Vista beat Cibola by a goal in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, winning 1-0. Will the Hawks repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
