Basketball Recap: McKinley Tech Trainers vs. Jackson-Reed Tigers
If McKinley Tech was feeling good fresh off their 78-52 takedown of Woodson last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The McKinley Tech Trainers were dealt an 80-50 defeat at the hands of the Jackson-Reed Tigers on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Trainers have suffered since February 13, 2024.

DaMontae Neclos and Rico Zeno certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Neclos posted 22 points and six boards, while Zeno earned 17 points. Neclos' evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 22 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcus Dunbar, who had five points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Jackson-Reed to victory, but perhaps none more so than Pete Newman, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 assists. The dominant performance also gave Newman a new career-high in rebounds (eight). Another player making a difference was Marley Park, who went 7 of 12 to rack up 22 points and eight boards.
McKinley Tech's defeat dropped their record down to 18-5. As for Jackson-Reed, they pushed their record up to 20-6 with the win, which was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season.
