Softball Preview: North East Grape Pickers vs. Seneca Bobcats

North East is 2-8 against Seneca since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The North East Grape Pickers will head out on the road to face off against the Seneca Bobcats at 4:00 p.m. North East is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.

North East is hoping to deliver their fans another blowout on Thursday, just like they did against General McLane (and have done all season long). North East was the clear victor by a 17-7 margin over General McLane on Wednesday. The win was familiar territory for North East who now have three in a row.

Sydney Wittman made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up seven earned runs off seven hits. Wittman has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive pitching appearances. Wittman was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Cadence Jones was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances. Julianna Coletta was another key contributor, scoring three runs while getting on base in four of her six plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Seneca was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 10-0 to Harbor Creek. That's two games in a row now that Seneca has lost by exactly ten runs.

North East has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-7 record this season. As for Seneca, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.
