Basketball Recap: Chiefland Skates Past Dixie County with Ease

Chiefland had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.8 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They blew past the Dixie County Bears 67-32. The Indians have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 22 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Chiefland to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brianna Bell, who posted 15 points and seven steals. Bell is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last 36 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nyasia Bivins, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds.

Chiefland's win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-1. As for Dixie County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chiefland will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Bell at 7:30 p.m. on January 6, 2025. Dixie County and Lafayette will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
