League recap: Herscher climbs in state rankings with win

Herscher moved up to 263 from 322 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Interstate Eight - Large. The Tigers were able to make the jump by beating Seneca 31-23.

Plano and Wilmington played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Plano eventually emerging with a 24-20 victory.

Peotone's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jace Cowger threw for 53 and one touchdown and Jesse Schroeder had 23 yards receiving. On the ground Danny Beresky chipped in 140 yards. Zach Panning helped Peotone's passing attack out by catching one ball for 18 yards.

Herscher's Dalton Sproul and Kyle Burton have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Sproul has thrown for 1080 yards this season, while Burton, a 5-foot-6 receiver, has 29 catches for 552 yards. Beresky from the Blue Devils leads the league in rushing with 821 yards.

Sandwich took down Reed-Custer 68-14 last week, the largest margin of any game.
