Baseball Recap: Kingsburg Extends Winning Streak to Three

Kingsburg extended their winning streak to three on Wednesday, bumping their season record up to 15-6 in the process. They came out on top against the Selma Bears by a score of 8-4. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Vikings also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

Jensen Hirschkorn was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hirschkorn was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gavin Ekizian, who went 4-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Elijah Duarte, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.

Kingsburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .537. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Selma only posted an OBP of .290.

As for Selma, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-7. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games.

On Selma's side, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Braden Francis, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one double.

Kingsburg will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bears: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
