Basketball Recap: Union Academy Picks Up Eighth Consecutive Win

Union Academy put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past the Montgomery Central Timberwolves 58-32. Fans of the Cardinals have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Leading Union Academy to victory were Paisley Boatright and Ranon Suttle. Boatright went 7 for 13 on her way to 17 points and eight rebounds, while Suttle went 6 of 14 on her way to 18 points. Suttle's evening made it seven games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Marianna Shine, who posted eight points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Union Academy's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-0. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 17.2 points per game. As for Montgomery Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.

Union Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 71-11 win against Central on the 20th. As for Montgomery Central, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Southern Lee at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
