Basketball Game Preview: Old Saybrook Rams vs. Portland Highlanders

The Old Saybrook Rams will square off against the Portland Highlanders at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses apiece.

Last Friday, Old Saybrook was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 46-40 to Hale Ray.

Meanwhile, Portland was just a bucket shy of victory on Monday and fell 36-35 to Westbrook.

Old Saybrook will have to contain Gracie DeRing as she made an impact in Portland's last game. She posted six points and eight rebounds. Kelsey Desmarais was another key player, putting up seven points and 12 boards.

Even though they lost, Portland smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Old Saybrook now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Portland, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-14.

Everything came up roses for Old Saybrook against Portland when the teams last played back in January, as the squad secured a 61-23 win. In that game, Old Saybrook amassed a halftime lead of 34-10, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
