Football Recap: Bartlesville Falls to Newcastle in First Game of Season

Bartlesville unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost to the Newcastle Racers at home by a 51-34 margin on Friday. Despite 99 more yards than the Racers, the Bruins couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.

Despite the loss, Bartlesville still got an impressive performance from Michael Kent, who threw for 305 yards and three TDs, and also rushed for 103 yards. Kent is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in each of the last three games he's played dating back to last season. Sutton Williams was in the mix too, providing Bartlesville with two scores.

Kaden Longman had an outrageously good game for Newcastle as he picked up 141 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. Those 141 receiving yards gave Longman a new career-high.

Coming up, Bartlesville will host Claremore at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Newcastle, they are taking a road trip to take on Tuttle at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
