Basketball Game Preview: Archbold Blue Streaks vs. Kalida Wildcats

The Archbold Blue Streaks will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the Kalida Wildcats at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Last Saturday, Archbold didn't have quite enough to beat Napoleon and fell 36-34. The game marked the Blue Streaks' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, Kalida lost to Crestview on the road by a 50-36 margin on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 243rd, while the Knights are ranked 69th).

Archbold will need focus on slowing down Meredith Bockrath, one of several Kalida players who made an impact when they last played. She posted 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Addilyn Huber, who had six points.

Archbold's defeat dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Kalida, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-3.

Things could have been worse for Archbold, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 47-33 loss to Kalida in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Can Archbold avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
