Basketball Recap: Michaela Morris' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Jefferson over Shepherd

Jefferson had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They lost to the Shepherd Mustangs on the road by a 51-33 margin on Friday. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2023.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Michaela Morris, who posted ten points and three steals. What's more, Morris also racked up three assists, the most she's had since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Cameron Toney, who had ten points and four steals.

The victory got Shepherd back to even at 1-1.

Jefferson won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Drummond at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Shepherd, they and Ennis will face off at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played.
