Basketball Recap: Midway Takes a Loss

Midway was the 48-24 winner over James Kenan when they last played one another back in December of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. The Midway Raiders fell 40-28 to the James Kenan Tigers on Wednesday. The matchup marked the Raiders' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why Midway lost, don't look at Peyton Herring. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 boards. What's more, Herring also racked up three steals, the most she's had since back in January.

Even though they lost, Midway smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as James Kenan only pulled down four offensive rebounds.

James Kenan found their leader in sophomore Y'Anna Rivers, who went 9 of 13 on her way to 20 points and eight rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Midway and nudges their season record down to 4-2. As for James Kenan, they moved to 1-1 with that victory, which also ended their six-game losing streak.

Midway didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 43-31 loss against Lakewood on the 12th. As for James Kenan, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 55-52 defeat against Clinton on the 13th.
