Soccer Game Preview: Otsego vs. Lakeview

The Otsego Bulldogs will take on the Lakeview Spartans at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Lakeview will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Otsego extended their winning streak to seven on Wednesday. The Bulldogs' defense stepped up to hand Edwardsburg an 8-0 shutout. Give Otsego's defense some credit: that's the team's fifth straight shutout.

Meanwhile, Lakeview hasn't lost a match yet, a trend which continued in their latest game on Wednesday. They blew past Portage Northern 6-0. Given Lakeview's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan soccer rankings (they are ranked 29th, while Portage Northern are ranked 86th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Otsego pushed their record up to 7-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those five contests. As for Lakeview, the victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 6-0-2.

Otsego beat Lakeview 2-0 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Spartans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
