Volleyball Game Preview: John Marshall Monarchs vs. Steubenville Big Red

The John Marshall Monarchs are taking a road trip to challenge the Steubenville Big Red at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.

John Marshall is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of West Virginia's top teams: Herbert Hoover, who was ranked third at the time (John Marshall was ranked 11th). The Monarchs fell just short of the Huskies by a score of 2-1 on Saturday.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, John Marshall sadly wound up on the wrong side. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 22-25, 15-4.

Meanwhile, Steubenville had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Crusaders.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Steubenville was: they took every set by at least 12 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-13, 25-9.

Steubenville's win bumped their record up to 11-6. As for John Marshall, their loss ended a four-match streak of away wins and brought them to 13-5-3.
