            Baseball Recap: Webster County Trojans vs. McLean County Cougars        
        
		
        
        
            Webster County had lost four straight at home, but  on Thursday they dropped their record down to 10-8 to make it five. They fell  6-2 to the McLean County Cougars. If the Trojans were looking for revenge after losing  8-0 to the Cougars when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

 Pryce Pearcy was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He  tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned  (and four unearned) runs off   seven  hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box,  going 2-for-3 with one  home run.
 In other batting news,  Trace Hardison made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and  went 1-for-3 with one  home run and one  stolen base. That  home run marked the first that  he has  launched this season.
As for McLean County, the  win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 10-4. The  victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games.
On McLean County's side,  Jaelin Groves spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered  just two earned runs on four hits and racked up six Ks.
 At the plate, McLean County let  Houston Whitaker and  Layden Bozarth run wild. Whitaker  went 2-for-3 with one  triple, one  stolen base,  and two  RBI, while  Bozarth  went 2-for-4 with two  stolen bases, three  RBI,  and one  run. That's the most  RBI  Bozarth has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was  Connor Mitchuson, who  went 1-for-3 with two  runs, one  stolen base,  and one  double.
 Coming up, Webster County is taking a road trip to  challenge Caldwell County  at 5:30  p.m.  on Friday. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 6.9  runs per game this season. As for McLean County, they will be playing at home against Madisonville-North Hopkins  at 5:30  p.m.  on Friday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Maroons have averaged an impressive 8.4  runs per game this season.
