Thornton and Gateway are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. The Trojans are taking a road trip to face off against the Olympians at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Thornton is looking for their season's first victory.

Thornton couldn't beat Skyview on Tuesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the first inning. The Trojans lost 19-7 to the Wolverines.

Ethan Stehle made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Meanwhile, Gateway was able to grind out a solid win over Overland on Tuesday, taking the game 11-7. The victory continues a trend for the Olympians in their matchups with the Trailblazers: they've now won three in a row.

Mervin Loya was incredible, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Gateway is 5-1 when Loya posts two or more stolen bases, but 4-6 otherwise. Angel Ferrusquia was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Gateway kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.

Gateway's record is now 9-7. As for Thornton, their loss dropped their record down to 0-19.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Thornton has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Gateway struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Thornton suffered a grim 17-3 defeat to Gateway in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
