Softball Recap: Grainger Victorious

Grainger came out on top against Greeneville on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run seventh inning. The Grizzlies walked away with a 9-4 victory over the Greene Devils. This was a revenge game for the Grizzlies: when they faced off against the Greene Devils back in April, they had to take a 2-0 defeat.

Shylo Williford made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off ten hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Jaylee Nickell was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted over her last ten contests. Amanda Kledzik was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Grainger is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-19 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Greeneville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 19-18-1.

As of now, neither Grainger nor the Greene Devils have any future games scheduled.
