For the first time this season, Prairie View will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will square off against the Santa Fe Trail Chargers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Prairie View made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Columbus, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Prairie View put the hurt on Columbus with a sharp 22-9 win on Thursday. The Buffalos might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by ten runs or more this season.

Ellie Jarred and Rian Stainbrook did most of the damage at the plate: Jarred scored four runs and stole a base while going 5-for-5, while Stainbrook scored three runs while going 3-for-4. Those four runs gave Jarred a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ryleigh Lueker, who scored two runs while going 3-for-5.
Prairie View was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .667. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Santa Fe Trail). They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over Perry-Lecompton on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Sydnee Sleichter made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed six innings while giving up just two earned runs off nine hits. What's more, she gave up only one walk, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-5.
In other batting news, Santa Fe Trail let Trinity Fawl and Kendall Baird run wild. Fawl scored two runs while going 3-for-4, while Baird scored three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Reese Black, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
The win made it two in a row for Santa Fe Trail and bumps their season record up to 3-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Prairie View, their record is now 3-1.
Santa Fe Trail's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Prairie View has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 14.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Santa Fe Trail, though, as they've been averaging 11.2 hits. Given Prairie View's sizable advantage in that area, Santa Fe Trail will need to find a way to close that gap.
Prairie View came out on top in a nail-biter against Santa Fe Trail when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 8-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for Prairie View since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
