Baseball Recap: Starkville Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Starkville can now relate to. They fell 3-0 to the Oxford Chargers on Saturday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Chargers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-0 on Friday.

Starkville got a good showing from Brody Wright, who tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Wright has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Starkville saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jonas Coleman, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Starkville is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 15-13. As for Oxford, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 19-12.

As of now, neither Starkville nor the Chargers have any future games scheduled.
