League recap: Franklin stuns Chavez in upset

San Joaquin AA recap Nov. 7, 2012

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Franklin, who took down 572nd ranked Chavez, 57-42. Anthony Shuemake threw for 193 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 13 yards in the win.

The Yellowjackets moved up to 830 from 883 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in San Joaquin AA. Franklin was able to make move up by beating the Titans 57-42.

Scott Behnam's team's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground De Angelo Johnson chipped in 185 yards. Isaiah Gaines helped Franklin's passing attack out by catching three balls for 73 yards.

David Martinez was the best wideout in the league this week as the Yellowjackets bested Chavez. Martinez tallied six receptions for 81 yards.

Josh Clark made the biggest impact on defense this week as Tracy defeated Bear Creek. The 6-foot-1 sophomore grabbed one interception.

Franklin's Shuemake and Martinez have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Shuemake has thrown for 1531 yards this season, while Martinez, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 39 catches for 880 yards. The Bulldogs' Bruce Russel leads the league in rushing yards with 1157.

Lincoln extended the longest winning streak in San Joaquin AA this week by beating Lodi, 56-27. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
