Volleyball Recap: Oak Glen Falls Short Against Ranked John Marshall

Oak Glen faced John Marshall in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Golden Bears fell just short of the Monarchs by a score of 3-2. The Golden Bears were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Monarchs earlier this season, when they won 2-0.

Oak Glen wouldn't go down easily and took John Marshall into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking five-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-21, 23-25, 24-26, 15-10.

Oak Glen's offense was headlined by Brooklyn Six and Averi Martin, who picked up 17 kills apiece. They got some help from Mikalyn Balch and her 49 assists. Brayley Lash controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Oak Glen's loss dropped their record down to 20-9-3. As for John Marshall, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-6-3.

Oak Glen has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 defeat against Morgantown on the 21st. As for John Marshall, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against North Marion on the 16th.
