Softball Recap: Meridian Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

After only two runs in their last contest, Meridian made sure to put some runs up on the board against Tuscola on Tuesday. The Hawks blew past the Warriors 15-0. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won seven games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Meridian let Morgan Knierim and Julia Meisenhelter run wild. Knierim went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Meisenhelter went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Meisenhelter a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hayley Hanson, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Meridian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .586. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meridian pushed their record up to 11-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Tuscola, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.
