Softball Recap: Annapolis Panthers vs. South River Seahawks

Annapolis extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 20 on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 0-10 in the process. They lost 18-1 to the South River Seahawks. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Seahawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 21-0 back in March.

As for South River, they pushed their record up to 12-7 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.

For South River's part, CJ Harris made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Harris has posted since back in March. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off three home runs and nine RBI while going 3-for-3. Those home runs were her first of the season.

In other batting news, Katherine Lippincott was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cala Marano, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Annapolis will host Southern at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for South River, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Severn Run at 4:45 p.m.
