Baseball Recap: Exeter Triumphs

Exeter won the last time they faced Reedley and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Monarchs came out on top against the Pirates by a score of 10-7. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Monarchs.

Tanner Garnett was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off only two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madden Pasos, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Gilbert Ortiz, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Exeter kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Reedley only managed seven.

Exeter's record now sits at 17-9-1. As for Reedley, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-11.

Exeter will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Pirates: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
