Basketball Recap: Reeves Takes a Loss

Reeves has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. Their2024 ended with an 85-71 loss against the East Chambers Buccaneers on Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (61), the Raiders still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, Reeves still got an impressive performance from Carter Guillory, who went 8 of 18 on his way to 24 points and eight rebounds. Guillory's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Colby Stark, who posted 13 points and six assists.

Even though they lost, Reeves smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in eight consecutive contests.

Reeves' defeat dropped their record down to 14-7. As for East Chambers, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season.

Reeves didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 62-61 loss against Huntington on the 28th. As for East Chambers, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, an 85-83 defeat against Vidor on the 28th.
