Basketball Recap: Espanola Valley Takes a Loss

After flying high against Taos last Thursday, Espanola Valley came back down to earth. The Espanola Valley Sundevils received a blow on Saturday as they fell 46-30 to the Pojoaque Valley Elks/Elkettes. The Sundevils were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Elks/Elkettes earlier this season, when they won 45-39.

Espanola Valley's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 15-8. As for Pojoaque Valley, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season.

Coming up, Espanola Valley will welcome Moriarty at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pojoaque Valley, they will head out on the road to take on Taos at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
