Living Word Lutheran and Brookfield Academy are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2019, but likely not for long. The Timberwolves will head out on the road to take on the Blue Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Living Word Lutheran has struggled recently with nine losses in a row, while Brookfield Academy will arrive with three straight victories.

Living Word Lutheran is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They fell 12-7 to Catholic Central on Tuesday.

Living Word Lutheran saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eliza Anderson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one triple.

The scorekeeper got an easy start last Tuesday as neither Brookfield Academy nor Catholic Central made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Blue Knights' pitcher stepped up to hand the Hilltoppers a 10-0 shutout. Considering the Blue Knights have won three games by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Makenna Best made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Lila Mason was incredible, going 3-for-4 with five RBI and one double. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Leora Schmidt was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.

Brookfield Academy now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Living Word Lutheran, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.

Living Word Lutheran suffered a grim 15-0 defeat to Brookfield Academy in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Timberwolves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
